We are in support of Electrical Safety First’s campaign for better regulation of online marketplaces. At the moment they are not subject to the same regulations as other retailers, meaning that it is far too easy for counterfeit and sub-standard electrical products to be sold to unsuspecting shoppers.
We want online marketplaces to:
-follow the same safety regulations as other UK retailers
-make sure that electrical goods offered for sale on their sites by third party sellers are safe for use in the UK
-ensure that any electrical products reported as unsafe must be removed from the site within 24 hours.
